Backlit stretch ceilings
A properly executed backlit stretch ceiling is an architectural marvel. The entire ceiling or a part of it illuminates the space with even glow without any visible light fixtures. However, we have seen many backlit ceilings designed or installed without the due diligence and the result is bleak. On numerous occasions, we’ve been asked to fix the attempts of building a backlit ceiling. Without experience, it is easy to make mistakes in such installations. Hot spots and dark spots are the most common problems. We carefully calculate the light distribution to ensure the even glow of the ceiling without the light spots. If you hire Philadelphia Ceiling to do a backlit installation, we always put up two layers of fabric—one being the dust ply, almost 80% translucent membrane, and the second layer—the 50% translucent fabric which is the finished surface of the backlit ceiling. This system prevents any bugs and dust from settling on the finished surface. When backlit, all dust and bugs become visible, but our clients enjoy pure white backlit ceilings.
